Star Wars Episode IX: Billy Dee Williams Gives An Update on His Training

Carrie Fisher may be gone, but her death has somehow opened the door for Star Wars Episode IX to bring in another legacy character. Billy Dee Williams is set to return as Lando Calrissian, and he gives us an update on his preparation for the film.

At 81-years-old, it sure must have been a chore for Williams to try to get back in shape. I mean, he doesn't even have to do anything too physical, but looking great onscreen is the deal with every Hollywood film. Even Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher weren't safe from weight loss demands.

Out of all the characters coming back, I am kind of excited to see what's happened to Lando since Return of the Jedi. We know he was a Rebel general for a while, and it's possible that he was one of the first responders to Leia's call for help. Solo: A Star Wars Story also gives us some great history with Lando and the Falcon, and I can't wait to see the two reunited in Episode IX.

For now, production is still ongoing with the film, but we're expecting to get an announcement of a wrap soon. Everyone is expecting the title drop to arrive before the month of January ends, and the first teaser is likely to come out during Star Wars Celebration in April. Hopefully, we also get a good look at Old Man Lando when the teaser comes.

Catch Star Wars Episode IX in theaters Dec. 20.
