Star Wars: Disney CEO is Refusing to Call The Mandalorian's Child as 'Baby Yoda'

At this point, we already have Jon Favreau's permission to call that adorable Child in The Mandalorian as Baby Yoda, right? However, there's one person who still refuses to call the Star Wars character by the nickname. Interestingly, Bob Iger has his reasons why Baby Yoda isn't the right name for the Child.

The Disney CEO recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the introduction of Baby Yoda in the premiere episode of The Mandalorian and Iger somehow admitted that he was smitten the first time he saw the character.

"Well, look, the scale of the reaction is probably beyond my expectations by a wide margin," Iger said. "That said, the moment I laid eyes on the character, I had a strong feeling the character was going to connect with audiences. It's just so cute, so interesting, so compelling, in many respects so familiar and yet so new."

Do you see what he did there? Iger only referred to Baby Yoda as "the character" instead of the affectionate moniker adopted by Star Wars fans. In fact, the one time he does say "Baby Yoda" is just to prove that he doesn't call The Child by that name.

"We talked about it, and we wanted the reveal of that character, notice I'm not referring to it as 'Baby Yoda' to be really special. And it was worth it," Iger said.

So what's the reason behind Iger refusing to call Baby Yoda by the popular name? It might have a lot to do with the Disney CEO already knowing what the Child's true name is. Hopefully, this will be revealed in the final episode of The Mandalorian Season 1.

The final episode of The Mandalorian Season 1 will air on Disney+ on December 27.
