Star Wars Director Rian Johnson Hints At How The Clone Wars Affected The Last Jedi

It looks like Star Wars director Rian Johnson might have taken a few notes from Star Wars: The Clone Wars's Mortis arc when he was writing the script for The Last Jedi.

Johnson was just recently asked by a Star Wars fan about his thoughts on the "Mortis" arc of Clone Wars and the possible connection it had to other Star Wars films and according to the filmmaker, he had actually seen those episodes early during the writing process of his own Star Wars film.

For those who haven't seen The Clone Wars just yet, the "Mortis" arc refers to episodes from the animated series third season. Featuring episodes like "Overlords," "Altar of Mortis" and "Ghost of Mortis," the arc explored the spiritual elements of the Force, diving right into destiny, the Force's balance, the Jedi and the Sith, and a whole lot more.

While fans might reason that the spirituality of the Force wasn't explicitly explored in The Last Jedi, the film did try its best to expand the concept of the Force, having Luke (Mark Hamill) explain to Rey (Daisy Ridley) that the Force was the balance of life itself. The cycle of life and death in itself is in a sense spiritual, touching upon what the "Mortis" arc of The Clone Wars offered.

What do you think of The Last Jedi? Was it a spiritual film?
