Star Wars Designer Confirms Popular Snoke Fan Theory

Star Wars: The Force Awakens saw the debut of Supreme Leader Snoke, with fans speculating about his real identity and past, curious as to where he really came from. While it was revealed in The Rise of Skywalker that Snoke was a clone, a popular fan theory got around even before the release of The Last Jedi regarding the Supreme Leader's looks, with designer and sculptor Ivan Manzella confirming this just recently.

In a recent interview with Force Material, Manzella confirmed that Snoke's appearance was based on the late Peter Cushing. "JJ [Abrams] mentioned a Hammer House of Horror doll," he said. "So I based him on Peter Cushing... when I did the maquette, there are elements in the cheekbone and profile."

Manzella made it clear that Snoke wasn't obviously meant to be Cushing, but he was his Hammer reference. Comparing the two, their similarities are quite clear, especially the high cheekbones that Manzella pointed out.

Star Wars fans were quick to pick up on these similarities, and though it wasn't intentional to make them think that Snoke was Tarkin, it's somewhat of a cool connection for the two Star Wars villains.
