Star Wars: Dave Filoni Teases Darth Maul's Return In The Clone Wars Final Season

It was exactly a year ago when it was confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be getting a final season. We haven't forgotten about that and neither has Dave Filoni, who has just teased on the return of Darth Maul in the animated series.

Filoni took to Twitter to celebrate the first year anniversary of the announcement of The Clone Wars Season 7 at SDCC. Interestingly, his latest post strongly suggests that Darth Maul will be a major part of the final season. Take a look at the tweet below.

"One year ago we announced the return of #TheCloneWars. I can't wait for you all to see what I see," Filoni wrote. He then added the hashtag #CloneWarsSaved.

It's an awesome post that certainly had people hyped for the return of the Star Wars animated series, In the show, Maul was last seen in the fifth season where he was taken by Darth Sidious, who clearly still has a sinister plan. Hopefully, this means that Maul's story in The Clone Wars is not quite over.

The final season of The Clone Wars will consist of 12 new episodes that could give the show a proper conclusion. The premise of Season 7 is still a mystery but more details could be revealed at the upcoming D23.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 has not yet been given an official release date. Nevertheless, the series is expected to premiere on Disney+ later this year or in early 2020.
