Sure Lucasfilm might be trying its best to keep mum about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's secrets, but fans are certain that the film is going to feature an epic showdown between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).
The Jakku orphan and the estranged son of Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) might have developed a connection in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, however, at the end of the film Ren chose the Dark Side while Rey continued on to her path of light.
Now, Star Wars star Daisy Ridley teases a major Rey and Kylo Ren lightsaber duel in Episode IX. Speaking in the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the British actress opened up about her next Star Wars film, hyping up the battle between Rey and Ren.
According to Ridley, the fight between the characters was gruelling to film because of all the water being thrown around, though it seems like it was much easier than earlier battles between the characters because of lighter lightsaber props.
"We have a great fight. A great fight. And I was really happy that the Vanity Fair pictures did show a bit of it. It's a great fight," the actress said, "Like I've become such a better fighter and they made the lightsabers lighter, so it actually looks like we're swinging light and not like heavy, heavy [swords]."
Seeing how there's water involved in the scene, this probably isn't the battle between the characters that we get to see in the teaser for The Rise of Skywalker, the one where Ren comes at Rey full force in his TIE fighter, speeding across the desert.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
