Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to premiere in less than two weeks, and not only is the film going to close the curtain on Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy, it's also going to culminate the entire Skywalker saga.
Speaking in an interview with Variety, sequel trilogy actress Daisy Ridley talks about what she hopes to see in her future now that her time in Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away is coming to an end. The British actress didn't have that much Hollywood experience before appearing in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and so Ridley was thrust into a life of fame and celebrity where she had to deal with the overwhelming passion of the Star Wars fanbase.
When asked whether she'd want to continue to be the person at the center of a major blockbuster or a franchise, Ridley answered that she'd just really want to be part of a group of people.
"Well, my main thing — which is why I did ‘Orient Express' immediately afterward — is I really like to be part of the group. And I've only really done one like leading thing, which was ‘Ophelia,' which was overwhelming. I like to be part of a group of people."
Ridley used to have trouble adjusting to the celebrity that came with the role she had in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Star Wars fans were relentless, and the British actress didn't really enjoy it when they would hound her down and visit her residence to ask for autographs and such. At one point, Ridley even fell physically ill because of the pressure that she experienced as a Star Wars star.
But now that she's played Rey for three films, Ridley can't help but struggle coming to terms with the trilogy finally coming to an end.
"It feels strange when we're in a group doing things and people ask us how it feels because then you're like [as if in pain] Oh! And we genuinely all really do get along. So that's sad," the actress told the entertainment news outlet.
Ridley is still proud of the story though, and the actress is sure that a part of her is going to miss her time in Star Wars once Episode IX finally premieres this month.
It's going to be hard saying goodbye to Rey too. It's been quite a run with Rey and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and we can't wait to see how everything is going to end.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
