Star Wars: Daisy Ridley Reveals How TLJ Throne Room Fight Was Filmed

There is little doubt that the epic fight between Rey and Kylo Ren and the Elite Praetorian Guards in Star Wars: The Last Jedi was one of the most memorable scenes in the film. Not surprisingly, Daisy Ridley has revealed that working on the Throne Room fight sequence was completely exhausting.

Ridley was recently a guest on the Happy Sad Confused podcast where she compared the Throne Room fight in The Last Jedi to a new action sequence in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

"[The Throne Room fight] felt pretty cool, and also that was really hard because everything had to match up. There's like a dolly shot coming through and it ends with me and I think I was fighting James at the time, who's the stuntman with the two swords. It was so tiring. We did like 25 takes because if one thing was off we had to keep going. But I was really proud of that fight," Ridley said.

While fighting in Supreme Leader Snoke's Throne Room was a huge challenge, The Rise of Skywalker clearly had a completely different challenge for Ridley.

"This fight, it was November, we had water being thrown at us—I'm not gonna complain about the cold, I'm just not gonna do it," she said with a laugh. "So it was like a real thing of stamina. It felt really epic, and it felt epic even at the time. One can only imagine what it's gonna look like."

We already have an idea about the new fight scene in The Rise of Skywalker, thanks to the photos shared by Vanity Fair. Hopefully, the new lightsaber duel will be just as epic as the Throne Room fight.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on December 20.
