Star Wars Comic Seemingly Takes a Shot at Skywalker Saga

The latest issue of Star Wars: Doctor Aphra might have just thrown some serious shade at the franchise's storied Skywalker saga and although it has not been confirmed by the comic series' writer Alyssa Wong herself, it's a sick burn should it end up being true. The controversial comic panel from Doctor Aphra's fifth issue features a brief conversation between the series' main antagonist Ronen Tagge and Doctor Eustacia Okka.

In the said sequence, Tagge reveals to Okka that he's always had possession of the second ancient ring which he plans to destroy, just like every other ancient artifact that he's acquired during his exploits. He refers to it as "bringing a saga to an end". Okka would then proceed to chime in and criticize Tagge's actions by saying: "And instead of preserving that legacy, you want to ruin it like a spoiled child?" Oof. Check out the panel here illustrated by artist Marika Cresta below:

It's hard to imagine the Skywalker saga, the series that pretty much kicked off the franchise some 40+ years ago and serves as the heart and soul of the entire Star Wars universe gain such criticism especially from people inside of Disney themselves but hey, at least they're not being biased about their true feelings about the franchise. Sure, the Skywalker saga is far from perfect but it still had its redeeming qualities and at the end of the day, you can't deny its impact on geek culture as a whole. I wish it was handled better for sure but it is what it is and we have no other choice but to come to terms with that fact.

In other news, the first episode of The Mandalorian Season 2 is now streaming on Disney+.
