Star Wars Comic Explains Why Leia Never Became A Jedi

Star Wars fans might be wondering why Leia never tried to train to become a Jedi after seeing her use her Force abilities to locate Luke (Mark Hamill) in The Empire Strikes Back and after seeing her use the Force save her own life in The Last Jedi.

Now, Star Wars #40 give us what seems to be the reason why Leia never really tried to train as Jedi. In the comic book issue which takes place between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, Leia, Luke and Han visit Jedha to help prevent the Empire from taking the Kyber crystals remaining in the battered Jedi Temple.

After Leia shares with Luke the last interaction she shared with Bail Organa, Luke explains that he feels like he has no other choice but to become a Jedi. Leia then answers saying that though she "feels things" all the time, she is burdened by "duty" and "knowing that (she) has to live up to it."

"We don't all get to be dreamers," Leia explains.

This is what we see as Leia fights alongside the Rebellion and later on the Resistance in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Leia has given her life to the fight, dedicating her time as a political and military leader for the sake of the people.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is currently screening in cinemas.
