Star Wars Comic Confirms Darth Vader Knew Luke Would Beat Him

Star Wars fans have often wondered how Darth Vader knew Luke Skywalker was his son and why he wanted him to join the Dark Side, instead of joining his offspring again as a Jedi. Well, the amazingly-detailed Darth Vader #25 has yet more answers for curious fans of the franchise. Turns out that the former Anakin Skywalker knew he was going to be defeated by a Jedi, it just so happened to be his son.

In Darth Vader #25 (via ScreenRant), the issue revealed a number of things; The Emperor technically being his father, and the fact that Darth Vader made a castle to try and resurrect Padme Amidala. However, Padme wanted nothing to do with this version of Anakin and was sick of being Anakin's "reason" for doing so much bad things.

This eventually leads to Anakin taking on a number of Jedi masters in this "vision," which also showed him something big; Luke Skywalker defeating him in battle. Luke is only seen as a blue figure that bests him in a lightsaber battle but it's enough to shake Vader to his core, which is why the Dark Lord pursued Luke after realizing that this was his son.

Fans who have yet to check out Charles Soule's Darth Vader run are really doing themselves a disservice. The entire run is available digitally via Comixology, though fans might also try finding them in back-issue form.
