Star Wars: Check Out Death Note Creator Takeshi Obata’s Anakin and Padme Poster

Star Wars Celebration comes this April, and a lot of artists have posting up their work for pieces they've made specifically for the event. Death Note creator Takeshi Obata is actually a big Star Wars fan, and he actually his own fanart for the franchise.

Check it out:

What's also fun is, some fans have translated the caption at the bottom, and it reads:

"I'm crazy about C-3P0 and I have been collecting C-3P0 items forever. My end goal is to get inside the real C-3P0 costume!"

Obata has a very specific style, and it's great to see it come to something as big as Star Wars. Manga artists do crossover work on the regular, but it's fun when they participate in other franchises as well. Who'd have thought that the guy behind Death Note would also be a Star Wars fan?

This was also a piece he did back in the 90s to help promote the release of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Check out his drawing of young Yoda:

For now Obata is working on a manga called Platinum End, and it's been ongoing since 2015. We don't know what he thinks of Star Wars now, but I would love to see some more of his fanart in the future. You think he'd be into Kylo Ren? He does kind of fit that L aesthetic.

Star Wars Celebration takes place in April, and Star Wars Episode IX hits theaters Dec. 20.
