Star Wars: Charlie Barnett Explains How the Jedi Are Different in The Acolyte

There is little doubt that The Acolyte will be different from the current MandoVerse considering that it's set in the High Republic era. Interestingly, Charlie Barnett pointed out that the Star Wars series will introduce a different kind of Jedi.

Charlie Barnett recently attended Star Wars Celebration 2023 with the cast of The Acolyte and he spoke to Collider about his role in the series.

"I am a Jedi Knight, and I’ve got some really cool hair. I can tell you that," he joked. However, Barnett openly discussed his admiration for showrunner Leslye Headland.

"Leslye is an incredible writer, first and foremost, and the entire team. She’s a playwright so she is invested in the story," he said. "I think what’s most exciting for me, and exciting about working on this, is that through the language, through the development of these characters, you realize that bad and good is at the eyes of the beholder."

"You know, things are so multilayered and complicated, and it takes a really talented person to write a person that you can see from all of those angles," Barnett added.

He also confirmed that the Jedi are at their strongest in The Acolyte which is set in the High Republic era.

"It’s a comment on policing, honestly, in my mind, which is why it’s so exciting. We’re at a point where we’re at our highest, and power can be a difficult thing," Barnett said.

It's an interesting revelation and this also means that the Jedi we will get to meet in the series are so much stronger than the ones we have already met. With that in mind, we can't wait to see the show soon.

The Acolyte will star Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung Jae, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Charlie Barnett, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Carrie-Anne Moss, Margarita Levieva, and Joonas Suotamo. The series will consist of eight episodes and is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2024.
