Star Wars Battlefront Public Beta is Coming With Companion App

Fans have been asking DICE if there would be a Beta for Star Wars Battlefront, so if you're one of the gamers who can no longer wait to play this game when it releases on mid-November, we got good news for you: a public Beta is coming to the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC in "early October", according to a press release posted today.

The Beta will allow gamers to play two modes that have been shown several times to press events like Comic-Con and E3.

The Beta will focus on the two modes that have been shown multiple times to press at events like E3 and Comic-Con.

The Tatooine Survival mission is one of the modes featured in the Beta, allowing two players (either on the couch or online) team-up to battle waves of Imperial forces in around an 8-10 minute quick battle.

Walker Assault mode, a 40-player battle taking place on the iconic Hoth from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, lets players join a team of 20 on either side of the battle. In this mode, players can unlock heroes and villains, so they can eventually play as Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader.

There's a new third mode will also be introduced in the beta: Drop Zone, a mode which was teased last month, but they haven't released what it entails yet.

Missing is the dogfighting mode revealed at Gamescom in Germany. The mode was heavily criticized, however, for the way X-wings and TIE-fighters felt too similar in play.

The Star Wars Battlefront Companion will also be available as part of the Beta, offering a remote, web-based a strategic card game called Base Command. The app will come to Android and iOS at the full game's launch.

Star Wars Battlefront will be released in stores on November 17.
