Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Bridges Episodes 6 & 7

The new Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is expected to deliver a new view of the Empire and its members. During conceptualization, the team at EA Motive revealed that they also had another agenda in mind in telling a different kind of story.

In an interview with PlayStation Blog, members of the team behind Star Wars: Battlefront 2, specifically Steve Blank of LucasFilm, about the direction that they took for the game.

According to Blank, they had always been in talks with EA for the gaming arm of Star Wars, and the goal was to create stories that would explore the events between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

"In the leadup to The Force Awakens, we had started to develop a series of new stories that were starting to fill in some of that gap in time… It was a fascinating prospect to do this in a game space, to tell these stories more visually. You get great visuals in a comic, but with the novels you don't get a great visual element. It felt like a space rich to explore in a game."

Blank shared that the team behind the stories had already done their homework when developing the stories, giving it a more seamless approach that incorporates some of these materials and ideas.

The other bonus that had become the main anchor of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is that it will be told from the Imperial's perspective. Apparently, this was one of the reasons that sold the game to the team.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will be out on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on Nov. 17.
