Star Wars Actor Anthony Daniels Confirms Hidden Detail From TROS Trailers

R2-D2 might have been in all of Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy entries, but Star Wars fans are worrying that the beep-booping droid might not make it in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Lucasfilm might not have begun The Rise of Skywalker's marketing campaign in earnest just yet, but the studio's released various teasers for the film, and it looks like R2-D2's been missing in all of them. Even with Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe (Oscar Isaac) together with the rest of the team, R2-D2's nowhere to be found. Scenes show the Resistance team together with Chewbacca, C-3PO, BB-8, and that tiny new droid D-O, but there hasn't been a sign of R2 anywhere.

Luckily, it seems like Anthony Daniels has confirmed R2's appearance in the film. The Star Wars C-3PO actor just recently spoke with members of the press during a conference for The Rise of Skywalker in Paris, and during the interview, Daniels revealed that R2- D2 is going to appear for a desert scene in the film.

While most of the recording is in French, a Star Wars fan on Reddit was able to translate the conversation.

"Confirms that R2 will be in a desert scene, where he explained that because he can't really see, he has to pretend to see R2, and at one point in TROS, he has to put his hand on R2 as he usually does but that they took R2's helmet off this time, so he almost fell over. Had a laugh. Says R2 is played by an actor called Hassan, at least for that scene," the Redditor writes in his translation.

What does Daniels mean by R2's helmet? Does he mean head? Does the droid take some damage during a battle in Episode IX? We can't wait to find out.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
