Star Wars Animator Fletcher Moules To Direct Animated Ghostbusters

Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot is currently headlining news especially with the movie's current trailer release, but it's not the only Ghostbusters in the works. There's also an animated Ghostbusters project and production has recently taken a huge step upon hiring a director.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fletcher Moules has been hired by Sony Pictures Animation to helm the upcoming animated Ghostbusters. The Australian animator has worked in the art department for films like The Matrix and Star Wars: Episode II. Moules landed the director's seat in the animated film following his Clash of Clans TV commercials, all of which have become highly popular. His Ride of the Hog Riders advertisement alone has been raked in over 90 million views.

Aside from Moules helming the movie and Ivan Reitman set to produce it, further details about the animated Ghostbusters remain unknown.

It's intriguing to see which direction the animated film will take. It could follow in the footsteps of Feig's female ensemble or return the classic male Ghostbusters characters. There's also the possibility of an entirely new cast.

With Sony's big plans for the franchise, which include a Channing Tatum Ghostbusters spinoff and Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd's involvement in the franchise, perhaps the new Ghostbusters will be more than what fans have been expecting.

Feig's Ghostbusters will hit theaters on July 15.
