Fans of the Star Wars franchise went absolutely berserk when "leaked" footage from The Mandalorian's alleged tie-in game surfaced online. The said clip was posted by YouTube user Christopher Turner on the video-sharing platform last August 25 and quickly spread like wildfire all over social media.

At first glance, you probably wouldn't doubt its authenticity because it features everything a proper video game should have — a menu screen with Baby Yoda in it and an actual in-game map. The four-minute teaser also contains a little walkthrough seeing Mando in action and you can best believe it only made the hype even stronger. But is it actually real?

It looks absolutely stunning but as much as we're all hyped up for it, we hate to break it to you because as much as the clip looks authentic, Sumo Digital's Jack Chapman speculates that the footage is an Unreal Engine 4 project made "using a package called ALS" and despite it looking like the real deal, it might just be a fan-made project according to him.

That's a bit of a bummer, I gotta say but if you've been following the latest Star Wars gaming rumors, LucasArts has been rumored to be working on an open-world game based on The Mandalorian so I guess there's still hope for it. It's crazy to me though that Disney has yet to jump the gun on the project considering how red-hot the series has been.

Meanwhile, The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to drop in early 2022.
