Star Wars Ahmed Best Addresses Rumors of Jar Jar Binks in Obi-Wan Series

Jar Jar Binks might not be the most loved character in the Star Wars franchise, however, when Lucasfilm announced that it would be developing an Obi-Wan Kenobi series for Disney+, rumors started spreading saying that the infamous Gungan would be appearing in the series.

Now, it looks like Jar Jar Binks star Ahmed Best has decided to address these reports.

Speaking in an interview with Jamie Stangroom to talk about his return to the Star Wars franchise as the host of the upcoming Disney+ game show, Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, Best was asked about the rumors that Jar Jar would appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

While Best says that he would be interested in returning to the franchise to play a "tragic Jar Jar" that's overcome with guilt over the rise of the Empire, the actor says that he has yet to be contacted by Lucasfilm about the highly-anticipated Disney+ series.

"Not as far as I know, no. I haven't been asked. I just don't know, to be completely honest I think Jar Jar is something Lucasfilm are trying to move away from, I'm not going to hold my breath for a Jar Jar cameo in Obi-Wan but you know, who knows," the actor told Stangroom.

Sure, Jar Jar might have had an important part to play in Lucasfilm's Star Wars prequels, however, we can't be entirely sure whether Disney's Obi-Wan Kenobi series might include the bumbling Gungan. Though Lucasfilm has yet to release a plot for Obi-Wan, many suspect that the series would explore the Jedi Knight's experiences before fans get to meet him in Star Wars: A New Hope.

Obi-Wan Kenobi has yet to receive a release date.
