Marvel might be the main publisher of the "canon" Star Wars comics but IDW does share that license and they have been able to make some fun, kid-friendly Star Wars comics under the name Star Wars Adventures. These have been fun, one-off tales that switch between various eras, giving a number of characters solo adventures they wouldn't otherwise have in a movie or Disney+ series.
It looks like IDW has decided to take a page off Marvel's book as they told ComicBook.com that Star Wars Adventures would be relaunching this June and it would have one hell of a hook; the stories will take place AFTER The Rise of Skywalker. Considering how Marvel hasn't told those kinds of tales yet, we're expecting a surge in sales for Star Wars Adventures this June.
The first issue will detail one of Rey's first post-Rise of Skywalker missions with Poe and Finn as they still have unfinished business with what remains of The First Order. We're also getting a story set in The Mandalorian that follows IG-88, which is pretty surprising.
Here's how the new Star Wars Adventures #1 was described:
Will this make Star Wars Adventures a big seller with the fans? We'll have to wait and see. It's a positive step that will get people excited, that's for sure. Star Wars Adventures #1 will be coming out this June.
