Star Wars Actress Daisy Ridley Wants To Be Lara Croft In The Tomb Raider Reboot

Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress Daisy Ridley has acknowledged the fact that there have been talks of her being offered the role of Lara Croft in the highly anticipated Tomb Raider reboot. However, it would appear that speculations remain as they are and Ridley is waiting for someone to offer her the role.

When news broke out two weeks ago about Ridley being considered for the reboot, there had been no official negotiations and the news was considered a rumor. Now, the 23-year-old actress confirms that there "have been conversations" about her picking up after what Angeline Jolie left off but that she has not actually been offered the role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter,the English actress spoke to them at the Empire Awards on Sunday.

Asked about the role, Ridley said:

I'm waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let's do it'.

Ridley added that the script has not yet materialized.

While The Force Awakens actress is busy filming the next installment in the new trilogy of the space opera series, Star Wars: Episode VIII, she said she would make time for the role if provided with such an opportunity.

"Absolutely, I'm trying to fill up my calendar," Ridley claimed.

It's not only Ridley's fans who think the Star Wars actress is perfect for the role. Her co-star John Boyega thinks the same as well.

Boyega told THR:

I playedTomb Raiderthe game, it's a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version. But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!' and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.' She should be.

Ridley won the Best Female Newcomer Award at London's Empire Awards. Meanwhile, Boyega picked up the Best Male Newcomer Award.

We already Ridley's dedication in preparing for the role of Rey in The Force Awakens.

The Tomb Raider reboot might require more physical effort and preparation, but I personally think Ridley will be able to pull it off.

The role of Lara Croft in the original Tomb Raider films had been popularly portrayed by Academy-Award winner, Angelina Jolie. The film is based on the equally famous videogame series of the same title.

Ridley is currently filming Star Wars: Episode VIII which will be released on December 15, 2017.
