Star Wars Actor Hayden Christensen Gives Kelly Marie Tran Advice On Fan Harassment

People have been very supportive of Kelly Marie Tran after the Star Wars: The Last Jedi actress revealed she was being harassed by fans on social media. Not surprisingly, Hayden Christensen has spoken up about Tran's experience and offered some great advice on how to deal with cyberbullying.

Christensen recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight at the Canadian premiere of his new film Little Italy. The Revenge of the Sith star stated that although he wasn't in a position to offer Tran any advice, he did explain that online trolls only make up a small percentage of the franchise's fanbase.

"I don't know if I have any advice for that, but just, you know, don't take it too seriously, because unfortunately [cyberbullies] are the ones that make the most noise," Christensen said. "But the majority of the people don't feel that way, so, keep that in mind."

Christensen's words are certainly encouraging. Although Rose Tico had her flaws, Tran doesn't deserve to be bullied by anyone.

Tran had turned off her Instagram account back in June following incessant fan harassment over her character in The Last Jedi. The actress recently wrote a heartfelt essay I Won't Be Marginalized by Online Harassment detailing her struggles with being an Asian actor in Hollywood.

Although Christensen may have been able to handle harassment without much incident, the first young actor to play Anakin Skywalker wasn't so lucky. Jake Lloyd, who appeared in The Phantom Menace, sold off his Star Wars memorabilia and retired from acting due to constant bullying. In 2015, the young actor was arrested for reckless driving and committed to a psychiatric facility after being diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Tran will return in Star Wars: Episode IX, which is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.
