Star Wars' Jango Fett In Talks to Play Aquaman's Dad

Temuera Morrison, the New Zealand-born actor who played the sire of Star Wars' coolest bounty hunter Bobba Fett, is in talks with Warner Brothers to play once again the father of a sci-fi icon: Tom Curry, the human dad of Aquaman.

This exclusive by the Hollywood Reporter follows earlier reports that Warner Brothers is about to finish casting of the clan at the center of DC Entertainment's movie about the Atlantean king. Nicole Kidman is being eyed to play his underwater queen mother; and if the deal pushes through, she and Morrison will form the couple who would give the Justice League its hot-tempered, fish-talking, amphibious superhero.

Morrison has portrayed important supporting, if not necessary recognizable, roles in the sci-fi pantheon. After his Jango Fett met his fate in Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones, he joined the side of the good guys as Commander Cody in Star Wars III: Revenge of the Jedi. Morrison's Abin Sur passed on his ring and peacekeeping mandate to Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan in Green Lantern.

Fans may recognize his voice behind the heroine's tribal-ruler father in the animated hit, Moana.

Morrison may find that he will be shooting Aquaman closer to his New Zealand home, as director James Wan will be doing his principal photography in nearby Australia.

Aquaman stars Jason Momoa in the title role and co-stars Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, and Patrick Wilson. It is set to premiere on October 5, 2018.
