Star Wars Actor John Boyega Has Become One of the Most Fearless Actors to Date

Now that Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy has come to an end with the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, actor John Boyega can finally take a break from the galaxy far, far away.

Without any future Star Wars movie on the way, Boyega has become especially fearless, taking a strong and vocal stance in support of the Black Lives Matter movement that's sprung up after the unwarranted death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police.

Not only has Boyega been posting on Instagram and on Twitter in support of the movement against racism and police brutality, he's been taking to the streets as well.

According to a report by Telegraph, the Star Wars actor appeared at a Black Lives Matter protest in Hyde Park today, giving a powerful speech to share his experience of racism.

"I need you to understand how painful this s___ is," he shared through a megaphone, "I need you to understand how painful it is to be reminded every day that your race means nothing and that isn't the case anymore, that was never the case anymore."

This isn't the first time that Boyega's taken a stand. The actor has been pretty vocal and direct on social media, telling his followers on Twitter that he "really f---ing hate racists."

Like the protesters in the Black Lives Matter movement, Boyega's outrage comes after the news that African American man George Floyd was killed by Minneapolice police after being suspected of giving a counterfit bill.

Arrested in front of a grocery store, Floyd died as a police officer restrained him with his knee to the African American man's neck. Despite Floyd's pleas that he couldn't breathe, the officer kept his knee on his neck until Floyd visibly passed out. Rushed to the hospital, Floyd was declared dead on arrival.

Since then, protests have been sweeping across the country, forcing the US to take a good look at racism and at police brutality which has plagued the system for so, so long.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is available for streaming on Disney+.
