Superman may not be getting any live-action roles anytime soon, but WB is working on an animated adaptation of Mark Millar's Superman: Red Son. What's cool is, we finally have information on the cast, and they've cast a Star Trek: Discovery alum to voice this alternate version of Kal-El.
According to TV Insider, Jason Isaacs will be providing the voice of the Soviet Superman. Joining him are Diedrich Bader (Lex Luthor), Amy Acker (Lois Lane), Vanessa Marshall (Wonder Woman), and Roger Craig Smith (Batman). The movie is also going to give us alternate versions of Green Lantern, Brainiac, Jimmy Olsen, and more.

If you're not familiar with the story of Red Son, it's basically an alternate reality where the capsule carrying Kal-El lands in Soviet Russia rather than America. Superman is still a hero in the comic, but this time, he's the perfect encapsulation of Communist ideals rather than the All-American way.
It's actually a pretty fun comic, and I really enjoy finding out how the rest of the DC Universe has been affected in this alternate reality. I also thinks it gives a unique take to the Superman/Lex Luthor dynamic, and it gives a lot more depth to their rivalry.
Personally, it's one of my favorite Millar comics; I don't expect less from the guy who wrote Civil War and Old Man Logan.
No specific release date has been announced for WB's Superman: Red Son, but the movie is expected to be available sometime in early 2020.
