Star Trek: Discovery star Anson Mount is already used to encountering and "discovering" extraterrestrial life as his fictional counterpart Captain Christopher Pike in the hit CBS All Access show and now, he's pretty determined to take things to the next level as he officially joins a special organization consisting of a group of individuals who are dedicated to searching for real aliens. Yup. There's such a thing!

Announcing the exciting news on his Twitter account, Anson confirmed that he has formally joined METI's (Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Board of Directors for their Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) project. Anson excitingly shared: "ANNOUNCEMENT: I am deeply honored to have joined this incredible group of scientists, linguists, & thinkers who are collaborating to take on what's perhaps the greatest creative challenge in the history of our species. More to come in the days, weeks, & centuries ahead."

Now, the legitimacy of extraterrestrial beings is an age-old argument and whether you believe in the existence of aliens or you think it's one giant myth that can only be seen in movies and television, I'll leave that one up to you but it can't be denied that this is a major breakthrough and a step forward in modern space exploration. I don't know about you but it's also quite thrilling how Anson apparently embodies his StarTrek persona on and off camera and hopefully, his latest venture which is literally out of this world will eventually pay off. We'll have to wait and see what goes down next.

Meanwhile, Star Trek: Discovery is streaming on CBS All Access.
