The first trailer for Star Trek: Prodigy has just been dropped and it offers an awesome glimpse at an exciting new adventure featuring completely new characters. But that's not the only thing we can expect in the upcoming animated series. The teaser also offered a small snippet of Kate Mulgrew's Kathryn Janeway assuring her new crew.
The Star Trek: Prodigytrailer opens with a group of aliens working together as a grim voice announces that no one shall escape. However, a young alien named Dal remains hopeful. He believes that he can get out of his current predicament and find a better life.
Although he is told that he's the only one who thinks he can escape, there are other youngsters who appear to be going through the same thing. And like Dal, they are eager to find a better life for themselves.
It isn't long before Dal stumbles upon an abandoned starship that could be their ticket to a better future. Will they succeed or are they destined for something worst?
Luckily, there is hope at the end of the Prodigy trailer. Janeway assures her young companions that they have only just begun.
The synopsis for Prodigy reads as follows:
"Star Trek: Prodigy will follow a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search for a better future. These six young outcasts know nothing about the ship they have commandeered – a first in the history of the Star Trek Franchise – but over the course of their adventures together, they will each be introduced to Starfleet and the ideals it represents."
Star Trek: Prodigy will also star Brett Gray as Dal, Ella Purnell as Gwyn, Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk, Angus Imrie as Zero, Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog, and Dee Bradley Baker as Murf. The new animated series has not yet been given an official release date. However, it is already expected to premiere on Paramount+ in Fall 2021.
