Star Trek: Picard's Jonathan Frakes Wants To Play An Alien In The Orville

We already know and love Jonathan Frakes as William Riker but could he possibly play somebody else who travels through space? The Star Trek: Picard actor has just admitted that he wants to appear in The Orville, but only if he gets to play an unrecognizable alien.

Frakes admitted about his dream in a video honoring McFarlane on his birthday. In the video posted by Orville Nation, the director greets McFarlane, saying that, "I think he is still 29." Frakes then revealed that he hopes to be invited to play a completely different character on The Orville.

"I'm hoping at some point that I can appear on Orville," Frakes said. "Perhaps in full alien regalia."

That's a welcome idea indeed although we do prefer seeing Frakes' face when he is acting. On the other hand, we would love to see him play a totally different new character in the future.

Although Frakes has not yet appeared in any of the episodes of The Orville, he has actually been involved with the series. He directed the Season 1 episode Pria which starred Charlize Theron as well as an episode from the second season titled Sanctuary. It wouldn't be a surprise if Frakes ends up starring in one of the show's future episodes soon.

While we're waiting for The Orville to confirm that Frakes will play an alien, there's something awesome to look forward to next year. It has already been confirmed that William Riker will be back in Star Trek: Picard, which will also star Patrick Stewart as the beloved Enterprise captain.

Star Trek: Picard premieres on CBS All Access on January 23, 2020.
