Star Trek: Picard Nabs Emmy Award for Prosthetic Makeup

There is little doubt that the first season of Star Trek: Picard was destined to win an award or two. So it's no surprise that the CBS All Access series has taken home the Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup award at the Emmys.

The Emmy Award for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup For A Series, Limited Series, Movie Or Special - 2020 was given to Picard during the Emmys' virtual ceremony. The award was bestowed upon James Robert Mackinnon (Special Makeup Effects Department Head), Vincent Van Dyke (Prosthetic Designer), Richard Redlefsen, (Special Makeup Effects Artist), Alexei Dmitriew (Special Makeup Effects Artist),
Neville Page (Prosthetic Designer), and Michael Ornelaz (Makeup Effects Artist).

The nominated episode was actually the Jonathan Frakes-directed episode Absolute Candor which took place on the planet Vashti where Picard was reunited with the adult Elnor. Episode 4 also marked the return of Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine.

The first season of Picard was also nominated for four other categories including Outstanding Period And/Or Character Hairstyling and Outstanding Period And/Or Character Makeup (Non-Prosthetic) for the episode Stardust City Rag, and
Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour) and Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour) for the episode Et In Arcadia Ego: Part 2.

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 has not yet been given an official production start date. Although the show has already been renewed, the second season has not been given a release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
