There is little doubt that most of us believed Star Trek: Picard Episode 5 would be fun considering that the preview featured Jean-Luc Picard with an eye patch. Stardust City Rag certainly started out as a darkly humorous episode but it also concluded with one of the most shocking betrayals in the franchise.
In Stardust City Rag, Picard and his crew had to team up with Seven of Nine in their continuing search for Bruce Maddox. Their mission is to find Maddox in Freecloud and that somehow goes accordingly. Well, except for Seven promptly going back on her word to leave former Ranger Bjayzl alive (yep, she went all John Wick on him and his thugs as soon as Picard and his companions were back on the ship). But that's not the most shocking thing that happened in the episode.
Once Maddox was safely in their ship, he tells Picard that Soji Asha is supposed to learn the truth about the conspiracy that led to the ban on synthetic beings. Unfortunately, things took a turn when Picard left Maddox and he was confronted by Agnes Jurati, who is revealed to be a spy for the Romulans. She then kills Maddox in cold blood.
Sure, I suspected that Jurati was up to something but I didn't expect her to do what she just did in Stardust City Rag. At this point, things are set to get truly crazy when Picard finally finds Soji.
What did you think of Jurati's plot twist in Star Trek: Picard? Sound off in the comments below.
