The news comes as the streamer confirmed a few weeks ago that the upcoming fifth season of Star Trek: Discovery is set to be its final season and is slated to release early next year. Producer Alex Kurtzman also recently teased some plans about doing character-focused limited series in the future.

The upcoming second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will include a special crossover event with Lower Decks as Ensign Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome) and Ensign Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid) will join Christopher Pike's U.S.S. Enterprise. Star Trek: Picard's Jonathan Frakes directed the episode.

This is certainly a piece of exciting news for fans of both shows since the renewal has already been guaranteed before the new season even airs which means that we don't need to speculate regarding its future. Now, we can focus on what they have in store for their respective new seasons.
