Star Trek: Michelle Yeoh Compares Section 31 Series to Mission Impossible and Guardians of the Galaxy

It has been a long time since we got any updates on the planned Star Trek: Discovery spin-off focusing on Section 31. After all, there were speculations that the new show is being pushed back due to scheduling conflicts. Nevertheless, Michelle Yeoh is hyped up for her new project. The Everything Everywhere All at Once star has just compared the upcoming series to a crossover between a Tom Cruise film series and a beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise!

The Section 31 series was initially teased back in the second season of Star Trek: Discovery and although Michelle Yeoh is set to headline the show, it was suggested that production on the spin-off would be delayed due to the Shang-Chi star's hectic schedule.

For now, there haven't been any clear updates on when we'll get Section 31. However, Michelle Yeoh is hyping up the series by revealing what it will be like when it finally begins streaming.

Michelle Yeoh recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about her upcoming projects and not surprisingly, Section 31 was brought up. Yeoh stated that she already has an idea of what the show will be like.

"Section 31 is that [Star Trek] universe but different," she said. "It's like Mission: Impossible meets Guardians of the Galaxy in space."

Unfortunately, that's all that Yeoh can say about the series. Nevertheless, Trekkies are hoping there will be an announcement about the new show soon.

It was previously reported that Paramount+'s President of Original Scripted Series confirmed that Section 31 is still in development. Although that doesn't sound like much, Clemens also pointed out that "there will be more news on [Section 31] soon."

It might still be a long wait for Section 31 but there is little doubt that the new Star Trek series will be well worth the wait. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
