Star Trek Legend William Shatner Wants NASA to Send Him Into Space

William Shatner may have gone on several space adventures as Captain James T. Kirk but it looks like the Star Trek icon isn't satisfied with having done so on film and TV. Shatner has just reached out to NASA in hopes that they will let him boldly go where no man has gone before.

Shatner recently tweeted a cool image featuring himself wearing an astronaut's suit. Check it out below.

BTW @NASA - just in case; the suit does fit!" Shatner wrote before adding the hashtags #LaunchAmerica and #AstroBill.

The tweet is actually in line with NASA's plan of "launching humans" into space through a joint project with SpaceX. In the hashtag #LaunchAmerica, the agency hopes to gather videos from people around the world showcasing their talent or simply sharing their feelings about space travel. With that in mind, it's no surprise that Shatner wanted in on the fun.

This isn't the first time that Shatner has expressed an interest in going into space. He had previously admitted that he would want to join Elon Musk if the SpaceX CEO would invite him. "Yes, with him in the seat next to me," Shatner said. "I'll hold his hand during takeoff as an added bonus!"

For now, it's unlikely that NASA would actually send Shatner into space. After all, astronauts undergo a rigorous training before they can actually leave Earth. Still, we wouldn't be surprised if he keeps trying his luck in the near future.
