Star Trek: Discovery Creator Hints at New Trekker Project

Star Trek: Discovery may not be the only writing and producing project currently on writer/director Nicholas Meyer's mind.

Speaking with TrekMovie, Meyer hinted that, apart from not being able to discuss Star Trek: Discovery as much as he wanted, there is one thing that he could reveal:

"One thing that has nothing to do with Discovery is that I am working on another Star Trek project, but I can't discuss that either."

This is the only thing that Meyer is willing to discuss or divulge about the project--and even if there is a known feature film in the works, he doesn't confirm or deny whether this is the project on his plate.

What we do know about the next Star Trek film is that Simon Pegg and Doug Jung may be working on the script once more as writers, but that had been way back in December with no new updates since.

For the most part, Meyer has kept coy about his involvement with projects, particularly Star Trek: Discovery. In another part of the interview, he indicated that Bryan Fuller's new series will supposedly have "found a niche" in the entire chronology in the Star Trek universe, so it could follow that particular stream of thought.

I guess our main takeaway here is that whatever Meyer is currently working on besides Star Trek: Discovery is totally unrelated to the series. While it could mean a contribution to the upcoming feature film, it could also mean an entirely different platform, like a comic book, a documentary, or even a novel in the Star Trek franchise.

Star Trek: Discovery will premiere as a two-part episode on CBS sometime this fall.
