Star Trek: Anson Mount Says Strange New Worlds Could be More Serialized

There is little doubt that everyone is already looking forward to Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and its special episodes. After all, Trekkies are already expecting the series to be more episodic than the other Star Trek shows. However, Anson Mount believes that there is room for a more serialized future for the show.

Mount recently spoke to Collider to promote his new movie The Virtuoso. However, the Star Trek: Discovery actor also took time to discuss Strange New Worlds. Not surprisingly, Mount has accepted that his new series will be episodic since that's what Star Trek is known for.

"Star Trek can be a lot of things, as we've seen in every iteration of it. But classic Trek is really founded on the big idea of the week, and the big idea of the week needs room to breathe," Mount said. He then pointed out that it can be done since Discover has already proven it.

"In serialized structure, you're trying to take care of so many relationships that there doesn't tend to be a lot of room for that. Now with that said, I think Discovery does a phenomenal job with that structure and I was very fortunate to be a part of it," Mount said.

So what is Mount hoping to do with Strange New Worlds? He admitted he prefers a serialized storyline. However, Mount believes that the show "needed to be episodic."

Of course, there's a possibility that Strange New Worlds can find a balance between episodic and serialized. Either way, we are already looking forward to the series.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is currently in production. However, it has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
