Star Trek Actor Jonathan Frakes Admits He Once Played Captain America

It's hard to imagine anybody other than Chris Evans playing Steve Rogers. However, there was a time that another major star actually wielded that iconic shield. Star Trek: Picard actor Jonathan Frakes has just revealed that he once played Captain America but you probably won't find any pictures or footage of his performance.

Frakes dropped the surprising information at GalaxyCon (via Comicbook.com), revealing that before he was cast as Will Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation, his first big role was as Captain America. However, it wasn't for a film or TV show. Instead, he and his friend Charlie Davis dressed as Marvel characters for special events.

"Charlie and I met there and he had been hired by someone to go out as Spider-Man to open up comic book stores. And Marvel on 575 Madison Avenue, the eighth floor, had built him a costume. And he did a couple of them and he said, 'They're looking for a guy to do Captain America. You should go meet the people over there.' So I went over there and, to make it long story short, he and I ended up going out on this weird tour," Frakes revealed.

That's right, the man who would eventually play Riker got his start playing a Marvel superhero. Unfortunately, Frakes did not reveal whether he had any pictures of himself as Captain America. Nevertheless, it would be awesome to see evidence of his previous role if anyone actually finds some old photos from those days.

Frakes is still expected to reprise his role as Riker in Star Trek: Picard Season 2, which has not yet been given a release date.
