Squid Game Star Criticizes Star Wars: The Acolyte Production

We already known Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun aka Player 456 in Squid Game but the Korean actor has also nabbed a lead role in the upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars: The Acolyte. Not surprisingly, Lee is happy to be part of a major Hollywood franchise but he also has some interesting criticism on the way the show is being produced.

In September 2022, it was announced that Lee Jung-jae has been cast in Star Wars: The Acolyte alongside Amandla Stenberg. Principal filming reportedly began a month after the announcement and Lee confirms that it will continue until next month.

"I was told not to talk about [The Acolyte] as much as possible," he told Ilgan Sports (via AllKPop). "It seems that filming will run until March or April [2023]."

Lee then pointed out how Hollywood productions are different from projects he worked on in Korea.

"I actually felt that in some ways, filming sets in Korea are actually more efficient. There are many aspects of the work which are similar here and in Korea, but I feel that there are areas where the Korean method is more efficient," he said.

Lee then added that he is also learning a lot from his experience on the set of The Acolyte.

"Of course, there are aspects I am learning from as well," he said.

It's an interesting criticism that confirms how Western productions can get drawn out due to scheduling conflicts and other problems. Nevertheless, we have great expectations of The Acolyte when it finally drops on Disney+.

The premise of Star Wars: The Acolyte is still a mystery but the series is set at the end of the High Republic era and follows a former Padawan as she reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes.

Star Wars: The Acolyte has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
