Jung Ho Yeon revealed that Squid Game is not only about killings and gores as she confessed to crying for real while filming the series.

Nearly a month since Squid Game shocked Netflix's viewers with its unique plot and theme, the series continues to be the main subject of people's talks online. Director Hwang Donh-hyuk's masterpiece introduces an epic way of doing childhood games in exchange for whopping prize money.

Aside from stirring viewers' stomachs with its NSFW scenes, Squid Game also offers emotional scenes that lead viewers to cry their hearts out. Those scenes are too heavy that even the cast members, including Jung Ho Yeon, cried for real over one part.

The 27-year-old actress recently sat down for an interview with TIME, where she confessed crying hard after getting the script. When asked what particular scene left her emotional, she said that she broke down for real when Ji-yeong and Sae-byeok began talking to each other during the Marble Game.

Jung Ho Yeon applauded the director for writing that part very well and planning to highlight the two characters in the series.

"When I read the script I was sobbing. It was one of the big excitements for me to meet Ji-yeong in person. Because at that time I had to imagine Ji-yeong from the script, but when I met [Lee] at the table reading, I just felt that she's the one," she said.

While other players decide which game to try to win all the marbles, Sae-byeok and Ji-yeong choose to discuss their past and current lives.

As Lee Yoo Mi's character realizes Sae-byeok has more reasons to live than her, she lets go of the marble and allows her contender to win the stage.

Jung Ho Yeon's comments resonated with what director Hwang told Netflix Korea about the two characters' innocence compared to other players.

The Marble Game episode changed viewers' perception of the whole series, leaving everyone in tears.

Round 4 saw the most heartbreaking scenes that made people forget about the initial bloody episodes. Among all the episodes Squid Game offered, viewers chose this as the best one.

The episode in question features the remaining players pairing up without explaining what the game is all about. After giving them a bag with 10 marbles each, they ask to pair up and play a game with them.

After 30 minutes, the winners pass the round and survive while the losers face the "elimination." The best and most notable games happen between Squid Games' central characters: Sangwoo vs. Ali; Gihun vs. Il-nam; and Sae-byeok vs. Ji-yeong.

Sangwoo and Ali's part highlight people's nature in terms of betraying other people. Sangwoo, Gi-hun's childhood friend, knowingly sends his teammates to more complex challenges, including the Dalgona challenge during round 2.

As he tries to shift Ali's attention away from the marbles, the character changes them with stones before handing them back to him. Ali, who thinks Sangwoo desires to help him out, eventually finds out his former teammate betrays him.

Meanwhile, Gi-hun and Il-nam's part touches on unfairness people commit in pursuit of surviving. The main character wants to save Il-nam from being eliminated. However, not playing the game means both of them will be killed in the end.

Player 001, who is suffering from dementia, starts acting as if he does not know his guess on their guessing game. Despite tricking the old man, Gi-hun shows the importance of friendship and compassion at the beginning of the round.
