Squid Game has remained one of the much-talked Netflix TV series even weeks after it was released. While most cast members auditioned to get a role in the Korean survival series, one actress didn't have to go through that. This actress had worked with director Hwang Dong-Hyuk before Squid Game, and she impressed him with her acting skills.
Squid Game Actress Who Plays Han Mi Nyeo Didn't Audition
Han Mi Nyeo is probably one of the most misunderstood and underestimated characters in the series. But, the role is essential for the director that he offered it to Kim Joo Ryoung.
The director personally contacted the actress because he was impressed with her acting skills in SKY Castle. Director Hwang asked for Kim Joo Ryoung's schedule in 2020 and promised to contact her when his project materialized, and he did.
"He said he'd contact me once it was materialized but I really received the script through the assistant director in early 2020, who proposed the role of Han Mi Nyeo," Kim said per Soompi. "It felt like I was dreaming. I was really thankful to director Hwang Dong Hyuk, who boldly believed in actress Kim Joo Ryoung and proposed the role of Han Mi Nyeo without an audition."

Kim Joo Ryoung's Reaction To Squid Game Script
According to Kim, she had mixed reactions when she read the script for the first time. She was in a cafe, and she laughed out loud, bawled, covered her mouth in shock because she was so immersed in the script that she forgot her surroundings.
She knew that the people were probably wondering about her reactions, but she could help but express her emotions while going through the script. Kim was amazed at how director Hwang turned childhood games into cruel survival games. For her, it was "shocking yet refreshing."

Han Mi Nyeo Is The 'Most Dynamic' Character In Squid Game
Most viewers didn't pay much attention to Han Mi Nyeo, but she would quickly get to one's nerves because she was too loud.
According to a TikToker who complained about the translation of the subtitles, Kim Joo Ryoung's character Han Mi Nyeo is fascinating. However, her dialogues are constantly botched, and everything she says in the translation does not align, so the viewers are "missing so much" about the character.
Kim Joo Ryoung described her role Mi Nyeo in Squid Game, as "the most dynamic character."
"Most severely, she's like riding a roller coaster. While Mi Nyeo is fickle and nasty, internally she is more lonely than anyone, has the most fear regarding others, and is unable to fit in anywhere, so I felt bad and sorry for her," the actress said.
She added that Mi Nyeo has a lot of fears but doesn't want to expose her true feelings, so she pretends to be tough and loud. But she is someone who needs support.
"I didn't decide on one thing and act accordingly. I just did my best to enter this extreme situation with Mi Nyeo's feelings and try to survive. I still get teary because I feel bad for Mi Nyeo. I feel sorry for her," Kim Joo Ryoung said about portraying Mi Nyeo.
Squid Game has set a record as Netflix's biggest series launch. It surpassed Bridgerton's record with 111 million fans watching it.
Netflix hasn't officially renewed Squid Game for another season. But we will keep you posted once it gets the green light.
