Square Enix Will Still Make Games for PS4 and Xbox One in Addition to PS5 and Xbox Series X

Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming out in a couple of months and we're all pretty excited to play this reimagined version of a classic we all fell in love with. As we wait for the game to come out, many were surprised to see this game still come out on PS4 and not be delayed for PS5 or even the Xbox Series X. Turns out that Square Enix doesn't currently plan on releasing any big exclusives for PS5 or Xbox Series X just yet.

During a financial Q & A presentation, Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda stated that the next-gen consoles will likely have backward-compatibility so the company will develop games for both generations, at least for now. It's hard to fault them for that since they did the same thing when transitioning from the PS3/Xbox 360 era to the PS4/Xbox One generation we're currently in.

Aside from Final Fantasy VII Remake, Square Enix will also be releasing Marvel's Avengers later this year. The fact that this company is showing so much support for this supposed "dying" generation of gaming is pretty great. Most people won't be able to transition to a new generation right away so having their support is pretty great.

With more Final Fantasy VII Remake installments coming, one can assume that they will be simultaneously released on PS4 and PS5 as well. We're not sure what else the company has planned but knowing this company, they will have a lot of games for us to play with.

Final Fantasy VII Remake comes out on April 10.
