Square Enix Stays Quiet About Final Fantasy VII Remake Coming to Other Platforms

Final Fantasy VII Remake is easily one of the best video games to come out this year. While titles like Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us Part II, and Ghost of Tsushima are providing some stiff competition, the fact that this remake is in the same league as those upcoming titles is great news all around. Hell, those games aren't even out yet so it could end up being better than all of them.

Square Enix was happy to announce that the game has sold well, being a temporary PS4 exclusive. There are rumors that the game will only be exclusive to Sony's console for a year, with it likely coming out on other gaming platforms in the next year. However, Square Enix themselves won't comment on the fact that this game might be coming to other consoles, which is weird.

We are pleased that we were able to top 3.5 million units given that we chose to produce and ship fewer physical disks due to the impact that we foresaw from the coronavirus outbreak. Disk sales were lower than we had initially anticipated, but growth in digital sales increased their percentage of the whole, which we expect to lead to a better gross margin. We will refrain from commenting on the possibility of offering the title on additional platforms for now.

Considering how there are a number of Final Fantasy games already on Xbox One, including Final Fantasy XV and HD ports of Final Fantasy X and XII, we wouldn't be too surprised if Final Fantasy VII Remake ends up on the Xbox One. It's not too likely that we'll see the game on the Nintendo Switch, though that would be a nice surprise.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is now available on PS4.
