Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Requires Players to Download Spyro 2 and Spyro 3

Fans only have to wait a month and a few more weeks for Activision's Spyro: Reignited Trilogy. There has clearly been a lot of effort put into these three games, much like the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, and it's clear that this collection will sell like hotcakes when it comes out this September.

However, fans were turned off a bit when it was revealed that the collection would require some internet access in order to play Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage and Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon. The fact that players will need to download these games is a bit of a turn off since the N. Sane Trilogy was able to fit all three games in one disc (on PS4, Xbox One, and PC) and cartridge (Nintendo Switch).

Activision clarified to PlayStation Lifestyle that the two games would be installed via a free update and will not be downloaded separately via a code. This isn't too bad since it means fans will be able to buy this game brand-new or used but the fact that the internet is needed just to play the two games is a bit disappointing.

"The global launch date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy is Sept. 21, and we're excited for fans to play all three reignited games on that day. As with most games today, downloading an update after purchase is quite common. The language on packaging and on the web is to let players know the requirements for Spyro Reignited Trilogy."

Spyro: Reignited Trilogy comes to PS4 and Xbox One on September 21. Ports for the PC and Nintendo Switch are also expected but no dates for them have been released.
