Spiderman: No Way Home Writers Unveil Mysterio’s Deleted Scene

Spiderman: No Way Home is certainly one of Marvel Studios’ greatest achievements. Integrating a three-generation Spiderman from the previous franchises together with some of the villains from different Spiderman universes was truly phenomenal. Though one character seems to be missing in action, Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio.

In No Way Home, we saw big villains from the past like Dr. Octopus, Electro, Lizard, Sandman, and The Green Goblin. Seeing these villains once again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe really enticed the fans. But for Tom Holland’s Spiderman universe, the main big villain from Spiderman: Far From Home was nowhere to be seen in the film.

Though Mysterio died at the end of Far From Home, new concept art from No Way Home reveals Mysterio facing off against Dr. Strange.

When asked about the development from the concept art, No Way Home writer Chris McKenna says, "We've worked on a few of these [movies] now and they'll bring you incredible concept art. You're like 'wow, someone thought this up, and now it's going to be a set piece.' So when we didn't know what the movie was quite going to be, we were playing around with a lot of different ideas, you're dealing with the Multiverse and a lot of different ideas get thrown around. Brilliant artists are taking their own ideas or taking inspiration from the director, the producers, and making incredible artwork."

McKenna then explained how the concept of the Multiverse opens up any possibilities there is:

"I am familiar with what you're talking about. I will say when you open up the Multiverse you get a lot of conversations where anything can happen."

Mckenna furtherly explained that they had to choose the characters wisely for No Way Home because the concept of the Multiverse that has no limits was ‘overwhelming.’

“Now looking at the movie, it's almost like it was that 'aha' moment. But also it was all of those characters at the end of the movie that start coming through. It becomes overwhelming. I mean infinity is the limit and it means there's no limit, and it's overwhelming because you really have so many different things you can now do with that concept."

"When it actually started coalescing, when feelers were put out and actors were like 'yeah, I'm game for that', then it became this overwhelming thing because you're like, Ok this is the reality now. You can't just be swimming in a million characters, you have to be choosing characters wisely and making sure that they don't overwhelm the story and Peter himself."

No Way Home initially wanted to bring back Mysterio but to cut the story short, Mysterio’s comeback was scrapped due to the film having too many villain characters.

But even without Mysterio, No Way Home was a massive success in the box office and made its way to being the third-highest-grossing film in the United States. The film reportedly grossed over $1.8 Billion worldwide.

Spiderman: No Way Home is still showing in theaters.
