Jessica Drew is at it again as Marvel Comics has announced a brand-new Spider-Woman ongoing series from writer Karla Pacheco and artist Pere Perez. Fans will also be happy to see her classic costume back, though it actually returned in the recent Strike Force comic that isn't based on the video game. Either way, fans are pretty happy to see a Jessica Drew comic again and the fact that Marvel continues to release more comics starring women is always a good thing.
Pacheco promises that the series will have a lot of over-the-top action and helicopter explosions since she is/was an agent of SHIELD. Considering how the character has been used in all of her solo comics, this will probably be a comic filled with spy shenanigans and espionage. That's not a bad thing either since Marvel's superhero comics do need some variety.
Here's what Pacheco had to say about the upcoming series:
"I love Spider-Woman, and I'm incredibly excited to share this series with both new and old Jessica Drew fans alike. This is big, can't miss, over-the-top action, some very surprising ‘venom blasts from the pasts,' and also a ton of helicopter explosions."
Not going to lie, you don't hear a lot of people say that they are Spider-Woman fans so it seems like this comic book is in good hands. The last time we saw a solo Spider-Woman comic book, she was a single mother who had a hard time balancing taking care of her kid while also being a superhero. It's a unique situation and something we don't see a lot in Marvel comics.
Spider-Woman is set for a February release.
