Just when we thought the three-generation reunion of Peter Parkers with the likes of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home was impressive, wait until Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse hit theaters as the film is rumored to feature over 200 Spider-Man characters.

Despite the delay, the Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse long-awaited sequel Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse remains one of the most highly-anticipated Sony films. Across The Spider-Verse will bring back writers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, including Shameik Moore as Miles Morales and Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker.

New additions to the cast include Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man 2099 and The Lovebirds star Issa Rae as Spider-Woman. While Across The Spider-Verse's plot remains undisclosed at this point, the sequel was making the headlines after rumors swirled that the film will feature over an extreme number of 200 Spider-Man characters.

Of course, fans went wild after this rumor surfaced online and one of the writers has to come forward to address this rumor.

One of the sequel's producers, Christopher Miller responded to a tweet and clarified the 240 Spider-Man characters set to appear in the sequel. Miller clarified, "To clarify, amidst the universe-hopping there are 240 unique characters that had to be designed and modeled but they’re mostly minor or background characters. The scale is grand, but the story is personal & centers on Miles and his family, along w/ Gwen and a handful of others."

We get it, who wouldn’t love to see 240 Spider-Man characters interact on the big screen? However, if the story will follow each of the 240 characters, the storyline would definitely be twisted and fans would be baffled. As per Miller, Across The Spider-Verse will still follow Miles Morales and some notable characters like Spider-Man 2099, Gwen, and Spider-Man 2099.

Nevertheless, we can't rule out some possible cameos that would make the sequel more interesting as Across The Spider-Verse might include a lot of potential webheads including fan-favorites like Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse premieres in theaters on its new release date of June 2, 2023.
