Spider-Man: No Way Home Writers Tease Doctor Strange’s Spell Impact on Tobey and Andrews’s Spiderman Universes

The three-generation of Spider-Man integrating for one film was really phenomenal for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This cross-over with Tobey, Andrew, and Tom Holland was really fun to watch even with the short amount of time. However, with Doctor Strange’s spell in the ending, Holland’s Peter Parker was forgotten by the whole world.

At the end of No Way Home, all of the villain characters together with Tobey and Andrew go back to the Spider-Man universes where they originally belong after Doctor Strange cast the spell that would close the Multiverse portal and make everyone forget about Holland’s Peter Parker identity. All the tourists from other universes have evaporated to light and were transported to the place they call home.

However, this spell might have some ripple effects for Tobey and Andrew’s Spider-Man universes. Jamie Foxx’s Electro told Andrew’s Peter Parker that if No Way Home plays out differently, he would have joined the villains.

In an interview with IGN, Erik Sommers, writer of No Way Home revealed that they had a lot of ideas for the effect of the spell on Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man universes.

"Believe me, we talked about it and we actually had ideas for, you know, ways of showing the effects if there were any. I mean, believe me, these are all great questions."

Co-writer Chris McKenna also explained that they were supposed to explore the ripple effects on Tobey and Andrew’s universes but ultimately wanted to focus on Holland’s emotional phase.

“Chris and I even were tempted to maybe, you know, pitch a tag where you got to see something. 'What would happen if this guy goes back and this has changed? Wouldn't that be fun?' Again, we didn't want to distract from the emotion of what was going on with our Peter Parker."

With the two writer’s revelations, it’s clear that there were effects for the two Spider-Man universes and things are not the same when they get back to their homes. This effect, however, may lead to more upcoming appearances for Tobey and Andrew’s Spider-Man. Rumors also claim that Tobey will be reprising his role as Spider-Man in the upcoming Doctor Strange Sequel, Multiverse of Madness.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is still showing in theaters worldwide.
