There is no doubt that there was high anticipation for Spider-Man: No Way Home as a lot of theaters and screenings were packed with fans who are excited to see the characters from the past Spider-Man films return and celebrate the cinematic legacy of our favorite friendly neighbor. Now, it looks like it has smashed an all-time high global box office record during the pandemic era.

According to Box Office Mojo, Spider-Man: No Way Home has now grossed $1.05 billion dollars worldwide making it the first film during the pandemic era that crossed the billion-dollar mark at the global box office and it's the first film to do so since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker back in 2019. It is also the third-fastest film to reach the billion-dollar mark in just 12 days following Avengers: Infinity War (11 days) and Avengers: Endgame (5 days).

It shouldn't be surprising at the very least that the film was able to cross the billion-dollar mark given the anticipation prior to the release and the responses were overwhelmingly positive after the release which resulted in a lot of people going back to theaters for multiple viewings. It's also impressive given that the film has not been released yet in other international markets such as China and a few European countries which will not open until January due to Omicron variant concerns.

The film is expected to continue its strong performance at the global box office although it might also slow down a bit since some theaters might close due to the rising cases of the Omicron variant. We shall just wait and see if the box office numbers will continue to rise and surpass the $1.5 billion mark as it has been proven that films such as The Matrix Resurrections and Sing 2 won't stop its rising box office numbers.
