Spider-Man: Far From Home Box Office Sees 153% Increase Thanks To Re-release And Sony Issue

It looks like Spider-Man: Far From Home just got a big boost at the box office the past few days.

According to a report by Box Office Mojo, Marvel's follow-up to Spider-Man: Homecoming just raked in $4.2 million from the domestic box office this weekend thanks to the film's recent rerelease. That's a 153.2% increase from the film's sales last week, giving the film a major boost in its domestic box office numbers. Now, Far From Home is at $385.8 million in terms of its Stateside score, just a little below the earnings of Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man movie from 2002.

Given this increase, analysts expect Far From Home to make another $5.4 million during the Labor Day weekend.

While the analysts attribute these box office numbers to the film's rerelease, we also have a feeling that fans have been going out to support the film because of the state of the Spider-Man franchise. Last month, word came out that negotiations between Sony and Disney regarding the Spider-Man agreement had fallen through, and fans were nothing but devastated.

Tom Holland has proven himself to be the very best iteration of Peter Parker, and fans fell in love with his version of Spider-Man ever since he swung his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War. Ever since then, Holland has played quite a significant role in the MCU, not only as a hero but as a friend as a mentee to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.).

Fans must have come out to see Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the MCU one last time before the character returns to Sony.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is expected to receive its home release sometime in October.
