A lot of fans have been looking forward to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse following the smashing success of the Oscar-winning first film back in 2018. While the plot details are being kept under wraps, it is expected to feature numerous versions of the titular web-slinger once again as also teased by merchandise that has been leaking recently.
Now, it looks like the upcoming animated film will feature two notable familiar versions of the hero as The Cosmis Circus revealed that they heard from sources that the MCU and the PlayStation video game variants of Spider-Man will make appearances in the sequel.
However, there is no word whether Tom Holland will return to voice the MCU variant although the report indicated that the character in the film and the one that appeared in past MCU projects are the same. It is also unknown if the video game voice actor Yuri Lowenthal will also reprise the role in the film.
The report does not stop there as the outlet also revealed that they heard that there is a possibility that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will have cameo appearances as their respective versions of the hero in the upcoming sequel or Beyond the Spider-Verse instead.
We do have to take note that this report has not been confirmed by Sony yet so we have to take it with a grain of salt. Considering that the outlet has reported a lot of accurate scoops in the past, there is a likelihood that this information will end up being true.
It is exciting to hear that there is a possibility that the two aforementioned variants will appear in the sequel and it will delight a lot of fans if it ends up being true. Considering that the film is expected to feature multiple versions of the hero, it wouldn't be surprising if it will actually happen and it just shows that the film will be taking a huge creative leap for the follow-up.
