Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man 4 is reportedly circling the director of a major blockbuster franchise to potentially helm the MCU movie.

Following the massive success of No Way Home in 2021, the studios are now working to continue the Tom Holland hero's adventure in the MCU as fans are eager to see his next chapter.

With Jon Watts reportedly not expected to direct the next installment, a search for a new director is now underway and it looks like they are getting closer to tapping a filmmaker who will helm the project.

Reporter Jeff Sneider revealed that Justin Lin, who helmed five Fast and Furious installments, is currently in the running to potentially direct Spider-Man 4.

He also reported that the film is targeting to begin shooting around September or October of this year.

In addition, Zendaya is set to reprise the role of MJ, and her commitment to the film is being blamed as one of the reasons why the filming of Euphoria season 3 has been delayed indefinitely.

So far, Marvel Studios and Sony have not commented on the claims that were made in the report.

If Lin ends up signing on to the project, it would be an interesting choice since he has a lot of experience directing a franchise movie and he also has his own stylistic choice of helming an action film.

There is still a possibility that we might hear another name once the new director has been announced since Marvel Studios and Sony might end up hiring a filmmaker with independent roots just like what they did with Watts.

Whoever Marvel and Sony will hire for the job will have a tough job since Spider-Man is a beloved property and they have huge footsteps to follow in continuing the hero's solo adventure in the MCU.
